67 Connections Openview's community initiative in partnership with the HCI Foundation

30 Jul 2026

Bringing Communities Together Through Entertainment.

Openview has launched 67 Connections, a national community initiative that reflects the brand's commitment to making quality entertainment accessible to all South Africans and extending the power of connection beyond the home.

Developed in partnership with the HCI Foundation, the initiative will benefit 67 children's homes, youth care centres and older persons' care facilities across South Africa, creating shared spaces where residents, caregivers, families and visitors can come together through entertainment, storytelling, sport, news and cultural experiences.

Beginning with seven organisations in August 2026, the programme will continue its national rollout over the coming months.

At the heart of 67 Connections is a simple belief: entertainment has the power to bring people together.

Whether it is gathering around a favourite drama, sharing a laugh through a comedy, following a major sporting event, enjoying a movie night, or staying connected to important events shaping the country, shared entertainment experiences create moments of joy, belonging and human connection.

The initiative is a natural extension of the role the platform already plays in millions of South African homes every day.

For many South Africans, entertainment is more than what appears on a screen. It creates shared experiences, starts conversations, brings families together and helps people feel connected to the world around them.

Through 67 Connections, we are extending that experience into communities where those moments can make a meaningful difference. This initiative is about creating opportunities for connection, inclusion and enjoyment for people who may need it most.

The programme will begin at Kids Haven, an organisation that provides care, education and support to vulnerable children and young people, before expanding to additional beneficiary organisations across the country.

The HCI Foundation will support the identification and assessment of beneficiary organisations through its established community network, helping ensure that the initiative reaches communities where it can have the greatest impact.

Since launching in 2013, Openview has provided millions of South Africans with access to a broad range of local and international entertainment, movies, lifestyle programming, children's content and news without a monthly subscription fee.

Through 67 Connections, Openview is extending that purpose beyond traditional viewing environments and into care communities, ensuring that more South Africans can benefit from the entertainment experiences that inform, inspire and bring people together.

As the programme progresses, Openview will share stories from participating organisations and highlight the positive impact being created in communities across the country.
