To mark the France-Brazil 2025 season, which takes place in France from April to September, and the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, France 24's cultural magazine ‘Arts24’ is offering a series of special programmes dedicated to Brazil and the richness of its culture.

Tuesday, April 15, at 12:15 PM – The Sound of a Nation
Set in Rio de Janeiro, the first episode explores how Brazilian music – from samba to funk – unites people and serves as a tool for political expression. Featuring Chico César and trans artist Catto, it highlights how Carnaval has evolved into a vibrant platform for resistance against inequality, racism, and corruption.
Wednesday, April 16, at 12:15 PM – Film for Democracy
The second episode looks at how Brazilian cinema confronts the country’s political past and present. Featuring Walter Salles’ Oscar-winning film ‘I’m Still Here’ and Sandra Kogut’s documentary on Brazil’s 2022 elections, ‘At This Moment in the Nation’s Sky’, the episode highlights how filmmakers use cinema to preserve memory, challenge authorities, and defend democracy.
Thursday, April 17, at 12:15 PM – Fashion with a Conscience
The final episode of the series delves into Brazil’s fashion scene that embraces sustainability and cultural identity. Eve Jackson speaks with model Zaya Guarani and designer Airon Martin, unveiling how the industry is evolving to protect the environment and celebrate Brazil’s Indigenous and Afro-Brazilian heritage amidst growing threats to the Amazon.
The three special programmes will also be broadcast on France 24 in French from April 15 to 17 at 12:15 PM (Paris time).
